Been Known and Understood

In the Elin Hilderbrand novel, The Perfect Couple, on page 166, there is a quote that I’ve written down:

“She has been loved in her life, deeply and truly loved. She’s been known and understood.”

I find it extremely hard to believe that no human being longs to be loved and understood.

I feel that women particularly want to be appreciated, acknowledged, loved and understood.

I absolutely don’t think it’s acceptable for anyone to be okay with dying without having been loved, appreciated, cherished and valued by someone who intimately knows them.

It’s a reasonable longing.

Maybe there are a rare few in this world who don’t care for any of the above things mentioned.

I’m not in that category.

There are times when we don’t want to be near anyone due to betrayal, pain, extreme heartache, grief… Yes, I know that a lot of people have suffered so much that they want to be alone, but this doesn’t mean that they don’t want to be loved.

How can you not hope for someone else to have another to confide in?

To enjoy meals with, to take walks with, to admire nature and sidewalk chalk art with?
