Didn’t Feel Too Young to Believe

When I was 17, I read the short novel, Bridges of Madison County, for the first time (after reading it, I watched the film based on it starring Clint Eastwood at around that time at home).

Maybe you know this story already.

It takes place in a small town in Iowa.

The male character is a photographer for National Geographic.

He meets the female protagonist at her home.

I identify with the man at the time because he is described in a way that makes him out to be especially different from other people.

The male and female protagonists spend four days together.

I was entranced with the book.

I still have a copy of Bridges of Madison County here.

I look through it sometimes, fantasizing about when I can live the love that that couple had.

Only four days.

He asks her if she would like to go away with him.

She already has a family so she decides not to go.

I don’t think that it’s strange that she loves him and for decades after that.

I was told that I was too young to read that book.
