Don’t Insist on English

Dear Turkish people, don’t be so hard on yourselves on how well or not well your English ability is — please.

I don’t think that people in Istanbul should be defensive about the English level of the city’s residents.

I don’t think that knowing or not knowing English is a sign of intelligence or the lack thereof.

People in Istanbul don’t have to say that Turkish people know English and they want to speak it but a lot of people are just really shy about making mistakes.
