‘Lok Mai Gai’ = Cantonese Sticky Rice

One of my favorite Chinese dishes is sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. Find a dim sum restaurant (‘dim sum’ is the Cantonese term for ‘appetizers’ and this type of food originated in Hong Kong. Dim sum comes in three pieces, normally in steamed bamboo plates. They’re prepared ahead of time and are ready for consumption, placed on carts, pushed by staff members [almost always women] who call out the names of the different dim sum on their carts and all it takes to enjoy the taste of dim sum is to beckon a staff member, pushing a cart, over and request what you want.
