No One Out There For You After All
I know how it feels to glance at your phone whenever you hear a ‘ping’ and it only turns out to be an Apple News notification instead of someone you’ve been chatting with on a dating app.
When we wait for a text and feel disappointed when it doesn’t come, it shows that we still have hope for something (of course when we are disappointed too many times, then we may stop hoping completely or temporarily).
In the back of your mind, while you sit in the office, you check your phone because you think that maybe you didn’t hear the message notification and then you discover that it wasn’t the case. You type out emails and prepare for an upcoming presentation, trying to make waiting less tedious somehow.
You sometimes wonder if your messages have gone through. You write messages to the person that you’ve been writing to on two social media apps or even three. You become anxious at times when you don’t get a response right away since ghosting often happens.
You wonder. You overthink.
You don’t want every evening to be you watching TV in order to wind down and relax and go to bed shortly after without anyone to hold.
You have been alone for years. You wonder how much longer it would be until you finally find someone who is interested in receiving and responding to…
