Some of the Things that Make Me Happy

I’ve recently received news from friends (two couples) that they are getting married and it’s made me happy.

On April 2nd, it was the birthday of one of my male friend’s wives and he told me that he bought her a gold bracelet and it made me happy.

I’m happy when I see videos of a friend’s one-year-old daughter.

I’m happy when I hear about what friends are having for dinner.

I’m happy when I watch travel videos and photos of friends and former students on Instagram.

I feel so happy when I hear about my friends’ plans for the day.

I’m happy when I have lunch with my 93-year-old grandmother.

I’m happy when I listen to a 48-year-old acquaintance tell me about her problems with her neighbors.

I’m happy to hear my 48-year-old acquaintance’s son do well in school.

I’m happy to receive messages (long or short) from a new person introduced to me by a friend.

I do long for a partner of my own, but I am genuinely happy to hear detailed news about others’ wedding plans and dates with spouses.

My friend who lives in Italy now? She came up to me one day in Turkey and started talking to me and we used to talk almost every morning there.
