Spending Days with Others’ Interests

I enjoy being up-to-date

on what goes on in sports

(including e-sports),

what’s been posted on Reddit,

what new video and PC games

are coming out, who the popular

streamers are on Twitch,

about the books that my brother

has read, what new films are coming

out, and viewing new videos

about daily life and conflicts

between wild animals

in some parts of Africa

and in the southeastern coast

of the US. My brother and I

have very different interests

from each other.

We engage in at least one

great conversation every weekend.

I admit that I don’t mind seeing him

play Kovaak, Counterstrike,

Quake, Skyrim and so on.

I love learning about interests

that I don’t know much about.

I mostly listen to my brother talk

about what he follows and likes

to do, prompting him to speak

more. I also don’t mind

asking my father about his senior

citizen friends. It’s a delight

for my father to bring home

food made by his friends

at least a few times a week

and to sit by him briefly

while he watches horse-racing.

Have a wonderful day.
