‘Where Did the Inspiration Come From?’
In 2015, a middle-aged woman from Hong Kong lost her husband. She and her husband lived in Framingham, MA for decades.
After she cremated her husband, she couldn’t live here anymore as she felt lonely and never felt that she fit in here.
She sold the house that she and her husband lived in and sold their car and decided to start receiving Social Security payments early, and made the final decision to return to her native Hong Kong.
She did try to stay in America for a year all by herself but she felt so lonely.
She and her husband never had any children so, now, she lives in Hong Kong with just her mother who needs care. She was 57 when she decided to live permanently in Hong Kong.
Why do I mention this?
I think the most important thing in life is to find that environment where we belong.
Also, as the recommendation of buying a house was repeated, I’ve decided to explain more than once why I am not sold on the idea of getting one.
Like her, why should I get a house and live in one feeling lonely (and scared because I fear living alone when someone may break into the house to harm me)?
