Wondering About Children

Every once in a while, I wonder about children.

I wonder about the hopes and dreams of those with disabilities. I wonder about their pain and struggles. I wonder about their day-to-day.

Or I wonder if a child playing at a playground liked math,

Or if one of them liked water sports, or if one of them

liked almonds, or if one of them liked pandas.

Is there enough concern for children?

I wonder about those who may be potential artists,

those who could be the next great innovators,

those whose growth has been impeded due to abuse,

due to being kidnapped and coerced to work for free,

due to their families not having the means to help

them continue their studies.

I wonder if people still have the patience

to guide children towards their strengths and interests.

I wonder about those children who wish they could play,

or wish for some ice-cream after hardly ever having

it for a while, or wish they could try out more activities

or go to summer camp.
