You Are a Good Man

I wonder how you and your mother used to celebrate holidays and birthdays together when you were growing up.

Yes, I may not know her, but I’m glad that she at least kept you well-nourished enough and made sure the lights were always on so you could study at home.

I think that you were probably a good student throughout your school years.

You are kind for recognizing her hard work. You were never resentful. You were never bitter.

You were probably a sweet adolescent.

I think you worked to help make life easier but you also worked to help your mother.

I think that you are a thoughtful person.

I think that you have made sure that your children never had to go through what you went through as a child and teen. I think you have made sure to care for them the way that your father probably should but didn’t at all.

You are a good man.

I suspect that your heart has always been in the right place.

I think of you often.

Now I wonder about the house you grew up in.

I wonder who your neighbors were.

I think your mother should be proud of you.
